This class is designed to give the beginning Rails developer (or an intermediate Rails developer who's light on testing experience) a chance to get their feet wet with Behavior Driven Development (BDD).  BDD is an evolution of Test Driven Development, using outiside-in testing techniques that focus on the user experience.  This class will give you enough of a basis in BDD to explore more on your own, or prepare you for a more advanced class like the Idea Foundry BDD class (coming soon to Austin!  Sign up for a notice when we bring new classes to your area)

We'll be using The Rspec Book as a reference, and focusing on the use of Cucumber to describe and test user stories, with some use of rspec for unit testing.  Having the text isn't a requirement, but it will probably make your life easier.

The class will be held on the first four Thursday nights in September, at the excellent facilities provided by Cospace in North Austin.  Classes start at 7 and will run about 2.5 hours each night.  Students are also encouraged to come to the Tuesday night Cafe Bedouins meetings to practice what we're discussing in the class.

Your guide for this tour of BDD will be Keith Gaddis, an experienced Rails developer and active member of the Austin on Rails community.  Keith is one of the instructors for Idea Foundry, a premier training company specializing in Agile topics, as well as anything else that looks interesting to geeks.
